Saturday 22nd April

Apologies for the late posting, things were a little hectic yesterday 😀.

The hill was looking good with a good spattering of cowslips, although the ones I planted personally don't seem to have done so well 😞.

I saw Colin's van but I didn't see him so I guess our paths must have diverged somehow. The gang were right up by the fence by the Morestead Road, and were happily grazing away. They seemed a little weather bedraggled but didn't seem bothered and barely stopped for a breath and just kept munching away. Kat is looking a little thinner and smaller than the others (not so round 😁), but couldn't see or detect any signs of distress or discomfort.

Doune was a bit wary and warned me to keep away so moved a bit further away and used binoculars for a closer look. Again all looking okay albeit a little soggy.

The enclosure looked fine, no sign of any trouble makers, and wasn't as muddy as I was expecting. The troughs were good, but a bit, well a lot green.

Doune showing me her pearly whites....

various

Hi all. Just to report a couple of things. Katrin is looking particularly skinny and they are all due to be wormed. Can you keep an eye on Katrin though please? Also on Sunday 16th Colin was there and saw some youths hanging around on site - they rolled a massive tractor tyre down the hill which could have been extremely dangerous had it hit anyone. So please just keep an eye out for anyone hanging around or causing trouble. Hopefully this was a one-off. Unfortunately I don't know how we'll manage to remove the tyre now!

Thursday 13th April

Ponies were at the top, by the further gate to Deacon Hill.  Flam was up and about, and came to say hallo, but the other two were lying down and dozing.  They all seemed fine.  Water level in trough OK too.

Nothing else to report!

Saturday 8th April

Gorgeous morning on the Hill, great to see the lake back (albeit temporarily I suspect), with a deer grazing in the distance. Also watched an energetic flock of seagulls riding the thermals (if that isn't an 80s pop tune, it really ought to have been). Lovely just listening to the birds and laughing rather meanly at all the people gridlocked on the M3, and as luck would have it the gang were a short distance along the top path, grazing and moving back down towards the main gate. They were looking really well, although they were attracting a lot of flies, but they didn't seem to be too bothered. Flam was a bit cheeky, trying to pinch my cap from beside me, but luckily my reactions were slightly quicker.

Also had a walk around the perimeter (approx. 1.2 miles), could see the start of the cowslips bursting into life, so that's all very promising. Both troughs pretty full, but a little murky.

Sunday 2 Apr

Ponies all looking good. Found them today at 13:00 at the top of the hill by the water trough. Also spotted  a couple of Muntjacs .
