It took time to find the ponies again, but after a circuit of the reserve (by me - and possibly the ponies) they were by the corral. They were still having the occasional lick at the empty garlic container, but looking fine. Trough close by looking splendidly pristine. The far trough is a bit murky. Both full and OK.
